About

Pole Position is a brand new exhibition which will shed light on a neglected chapter in the story of British art. Created from the private collection of Matthew Bateson, Pole Position features the work of Polish émigré artists forced to flee mainland Europe during the Second World War. Despite working alongside many of the British artists who are so celebrated today, their contribution has often been overlooked. Providing a perfect parallel to Sheffield's stunning 20th century British art collection, Pole Position offers a unique opportunity to see these powerful and evocative works on public display for the first time.
