The Violet Hour presents Ann Mackowski | All That's Best of Dark and Bright

Launched in February 2013, The Violet Hour is a collaboration between art professionals Alex Wellesley Wesley and Sarah Reynolds intent upon showing, promoting the work of young artists in the early stages of their careers. Its name borrowed from T.S Eliot’s The Wasteland, The Violet Hour allows the partnership the indulgence of exploring the links between poetry and visual art. Presenting pop-up exhibitions, The Violet Hour has presided over a number of exciting projects in league with young artists and designers in a variety of places and spaces across London.

The final show of 2013, Ann Mackowski | All That’s Best of Dark and Bright, opens on 3rd December at Gallery 8, Dalmeny Court, 8 Duke Street St James’s, SW1Y 6BN. It continues until 12th December. It will showcase the work of an American artist recently graduated from her MA at Chelsea College of Art.

Ann Mackowski

2013 - MA in Fine Art, Chelsea School of Art
2011 - BA English Literature, Boston University

Layering inks and employing myriad mixed media including thread, gold leaf and even eggshells, the artist maps and explores human interpretation of the world, both subjective and objective. From the micro to the macroscopic, we inhabit different realities--those of atoms and supernovas, of humours and gods, or simply of personal sensibility.
