David Raymond Conroy talks more about PPE, or I am blind and it is Spring
David Raymond Conroy provides an insight into his recent work and new exhibition in the Lower Gallery.
The phrase ‘It is spring and I am blind’ is taken from an anecdote often attributed to advertising guru David Ogilvy. Illustrating the ‘power of words’ the story tells of an advertising executive who stopped one morning to alter a beggar’s sign from ‘I am blind, please help’ to ‘It is spring and I am blind’. Ogilvy delights in the advertising executive’s ingenuity when, the story goes, later that evening he observes the beggar’s cap overflowing with donations.
