The Secret Worth A Thousand1. Dec - 9. Feb 13 / ended Newlyn Art Gallery
Tue-Sat, 10am - 5pm
The Secret Worth A Thousand presents Kate Walters’ paintings, drawings and photographs that explore the connections between the human and animal worlds.
Deer, horses and female figures are depicted with a raw but intimate intensity in a series of paintings and drawings created especially for this exhibition. In the lower gallery there are projected photographs, and video, detailing the wonder of nature in Walters’ small garden, which represents a return to a medium she worked with many years ago.
The exhibition title, The Secret Worth A Thousand, refers to what the German writer and artist Goethe believed we could gain from entering into a conversation with nature.
Based in Cornwall for the past fifteen years, this is Walters’ first major solo show in a public gallery.
