COME TO DISRUPTION at Arcadia_Missa is the second exhibition in a series of three, bringing together four artists based in Copenhagen, London and Vienna.

Brought together by an interest in appropriation, variation and repetition, the series attempts to explore these concepts in the exhibition format as well as individual works. Variations of previously shown works are curated by the artist based in the city of each show. This is a format initiated in order to explore the various possible relationships between the works and respond to each of the spaces they inhabit. The second show at Arcadia_Missa is curated by Sebastian Acker and will respond to the first exhibition in Copenhagen.

The process over the triad of exhibitions challenges the norms of authorship, hierarchy (of works and curation), object-hood and uniqueness – all modi operandi of a traditional, and arguably disintegrating, art market – or lifeline of art works.

As the works, and exhibition as a whole, strives for continuation as it morphs during an almost nomadic journey; the works themselves relinquish their ‘meanings’. Their individual identities are replaced by one essence - the show’s attempt to stay stable, resettle in each site, and survive.

The project plays with actively seeking to become ephemeral – to push against object - to be a flash in the ether, yet on the other hand is attempting immortality through using a pattern of reconfiguration and notion of ‘the ephemeral’ in order to continually reformat itself, and exist in time-space for longer than what could be deemed ‘appropriate’.

Arcadia_Missa welcomed Come to Disruption into The Survival Series, as part of a programme to examine (culturally) the desire to survive- and what it is we are seeking to maintain. This show of works within The Survival Series acts as an example of one of the ways artists are performing a ‘final fling’ with their tangible products. As works/exhibitions/selves become increasingly crossed between on and offline, the active disruption and deliberate re-assimilation of the show parodies the longevity and constant re-contextualisation that art affords itself in web-space, whilst at the same time nostalgically mourning or romancing the loss of the object.
