Paul Carter's sculptural practise investigates the expanded possibilities and limited enclosures afforded by architectural structures and objects. Often incorporating found materials and reclaimed fixtures into his works, Carter explores architectural forms and modules' capacity to act, signify, affect, shut in and project. Though static, his pieces appear to alternately implode and expand, heave and relax, moving toward meaningful form only to sink back into inert, over-consumed mass. At SHIFT. Carter manifests something akin to a latent state of drawing hinting towards a fluid state of process an accumulation of materials suggesting potentialities of form and constructions.
